TORONTO, April 13 /CNW/ - On March 26th, Toronto's John G. Althouse
Middle School beat out seven other public school choir groups from across the
GTA and surrounding areas competing in the Real Canadian Anthem Search for a
chance to sing the national anthem before a Raptors game. The first ever
competition of its kind, the event was sponsored by Real Canadian Superstore
in Association with Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment, and was judged by a
celebrity panel including Canadian Idol Winner Melissa O'Neil and "Degrassi:
The Next Generation" star Lauren Collins. In addition to performing at Air
Canada Centre, John G. Althouse students also won $3000 toward their music
program and a catered breakfast for their school.
