BRAMPTON (ON) September 28, 2012: At Loblaw Companies, the health and safety of our customers is paramount to us and we are committed to providing our customers with a clean and safe store environment and offering products that are produced, sourced and handled responsibly. Loblaw Companies Limited and all of our corporate and franchise stores follow the federal regulations set and enforced by Health Canada and Canadian Food Inspection Agency.
Loblaw has been following the developments in the investigation by Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) into possible E.coli contamination. We have acted on the recalls by the Canadian Food Inspection and have removed all potentially affected primal/muscle meat (large portions of meat processed into smaller cuts), including product used in other recipes in-store, received from Establishment #38 with production dates of August 24, 27, 28, 29 and September 5 from all Loblaw banner stores.
All potentially affected products from XL Foods (Establishment #38) have been removed from the following Loblaw banner stores:
• West / Ouest: Extra Foods Corporate, Extra Foods Franchise, No Frills Franchise, RCWC West Corporate, Shop Easy/SuperValu Affiliated, Westfair Independents, YIG Franchise
• Ontario: Extra Foods Corporate, No Frills Franchise, RCWC West Corporate, Westfair Independents
• Québec: Loblaws Quebec Corporate, Maxi & Cie Corporate, Maxi Corporate, Presto/Club Entrepot Corporate, Provigo Associated, Provigo Corporate, Provigo Franchise
• Atlantic / Atlantique: No Frills Franchise
·Yukon Territory & Northwest Territory: Extra Foods, Real Canadian Superstore
We have been working closely with our suppliers to replenish these products as soon as possible for our customers. We sincerely apologize for any concern or inconvenience this recall has caused and would like to assure you that all potentially affected products have been removed from our stores. If you have any concerns regarding a product purchased from our stores you are invited to return it to any of our stores for a refund or exchange with or without a receipt. Our standard refund process will apply.
