Voluntary Recall of President’s Choice® Louisiana Hot Sauce Thick Cut Dipping Chips, 275g package

To Our Valued Customers:

Loblaw has issued an advisory that President’s Choice® Louisiana Hot Sauce Thick Cut Dipping Chips, 275g package with the UPC # 060383992828 and a code date on package 2010 JL 12, as the product contains milk ingredients, which is not identified on the packaging.

The product is sold at various Loblaw corporate, franchise and affiliated independents. Specifically:

Customers with milk allergens are advised not to consume the product. They can return the product to any Loblaw store where the customer service desk will provide a full refund or contact customer service at 1-888-495-5111 or customerservice@presidentschoice.ca. There have been no reported injuries or illness associated with the consumption of this product.

All potentially affected products have been removed from store shelves.

Voluntary Recall of President’s Choice® Baked by You™ Roasted Garlic Bread, 320g package

To Our Valued Customers:

Loblaw has issued an advisory that President’s Choice® Baked by You™ Roasted Garlic Bread, 320g package with the UPC # 0 60383 80497 8, may contain a small metal holding pin. A holding pin may have come dislodged from a processing machine specific to the product during production.

Customers are advised not to consume the affected product. They can return the product to any Loblaw store where the customer service desk will provide a full refund or contact customer service at 1-888-495-5111 or customerservice@presidentschoice.ca

We have removed all the potentially affected products from our shelves in our stores across the country.

Recall of Siena Food Ltd. products related to a listeria monocytogenes contamination.

According to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may not look or smell spoiled. Consumption of food contaminated with this bacteria may cause listeriosis, a foodborne illness. Listeriosis can cause high fever, severe headache, neck stiffness and nausea. Pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems are particularly at risk. Infected pregnant women may experience only a mild, flu-like illness, however, infections during pregnancy can lead to premature delivery, infection of the newborn, or even stillbirth.

Recall of products related to Hydrolysed Vegetable Protein (HVP) contaminated with Salmonella

The health and safety of our customers is paramount to us and we are committed to providing our customers with a clean and safe store environment and offering products that are produced, sourced and handled responsibly. Loblaw Companies Limited and all of our corporate and franchise stores follow the federal regulations set and enforced by Health Canada and Canadian Food Inspection Agency and we implement a rapid response protocol on recall notices.

Loblaw has been following the developments in the investigation by U.S. authorities into possible Salmonella contamination of Hydrolysed Vegetable Protein (HVP) in the United States and have acted upon all Canadian Food Inspection recall notices related to this issue. We have been working closely with our vendors as part of our proactive monitoring and assessment process.

Customers can be assured that affected products are removed from our shelves and from sale immediately upon receiving recall notices from Canadian Food Inspection Agency. If customers have any concerns regarding a product they have purchased from our stores they can return it to any Loblaw store where the customer service desk will provide a full refund or contact customer service at 1-888-495-5111 or customerservice@presidentschoice.ca.

According to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, the risks related to this contamination are considered to be very low. However, consumers should ensure they cook their food properly to avoid any risks of Salmonella. Products that you would cook or heat after you buy them are unlikely to pose a risk as long as they are cooked and handled properly.

Recall of President’s Choice Organics chocolate digestive biscuits

Loblaw Companies Limited has voluntarily recalled President’s Choice Organics Chocolate Digestive Biscuits, 200g package with the UPC # 6038370091, as the product can contain milk, which is not declared on the packaging.

Customers are advised not to consume the affected product if they have an allergy to milk. They can return the product to any Loblaw store where the customer service desk will provide a full refund or contact customer service at 1-888-495-5111 or customerservice@presidentschoice.ca

Loblaw Companies Limited Responds to Statement of Claim Filed in New Brunswick

We thoroughly apologize for the alarm and concern caused by the statement of claim filed against Wayne Lord and Bathurst Vans Inc and we will not seek further action.

While it is normal legal practice to look for reimbursement, this decision was clearly made without consideration of the specifics of this accident.

We would also like to thank all our customers that voiced their concern regarding our decision, allowing us to reconsider our actions.
