Have you ever wondered about the journey your food takes before it gets to your table? It usually starts on a farm, with dedicated farmers who work hard to grow the food we love. We are proud to support these farmers, and we are excited to announce a new partnership that will empower them even more. Loblaw is teaming up with Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC), a non-profit environmental organization that has been partnering with farmers and protecting nature for nearly 90 years. This partnership will support farmers and ranchers in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba as a part of the DUC Sustainable Agriculture Program. Who is Ducks Unlimited Canada? Ducks Unlimited Canada is a team of experts who know a lot about conservation. They work with grain growers and livestock producers to conserve, restore and manage wetlands, which are important areas like marshes and ponds that are home to many birds, animals, and plants. DUC has worked alongside Canadian farmers and ranchers to develop innovative solutions that contribute to cleaner water, healthier soil, and thriving biodiversity across the Prairies. They understand that every farm is different and help farmers find the best ways to care for their unique piece of land. They know that healthy farms are good for everyone. When the land is healthy, it can grow better crops, provide clean water, and offer a safe home for wildlife. How We Are Helping Since partnering with DUC in 2025 and over the next three years, Loblaw is committed to providing $1.5 million in funding to DUC. These funds will help DUC expand its important work and key programs and share its knowledge with more farmers, giving them the tools and resources to try new practices that benefit the environment. These practices help create healthier soil, which is better for growing food and storing water. They also help keep our water systems clean and create more space for biodiversity — all the different kinds of plants and animals that make our ecosystems strong. Their programs are also aimed at addressing challenges like extreme weather and soil degradation.

"We know how important Canadian farmers are. They grow our food and take care of the land," said Emma Race, Vice President of Sustainability and Community Investment. “Through this partnership, we aim to support Canadian farmers and ranchers by expanding access to DUCs sustainable agriculture program.”

A Win for Everyone This collaboration is about creating a future where farming and nature go hand in hand. By supporting programs that improve soil health, protect water, and increase wildlife habitats, we are helping build a food system that is strong and resilient. This work helps farmers face challenges like extreme weather and ensures their land will be productive for years to come. It’s a win for farmers, who get the support they need; a win for nature, which gets the protection it deserves; and a win for all Canadians, who can count on a sustainable and healthy food supply. We are incredibly proud to work with Ducks Unlimited Canada to support the people who feed our communities and to help Canadians Live Life Well®.
