For Stephanie Evans, life has always been an adventure. Born and raised in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, she learned early on how to navigate the world with Cerebral Palsy. This challenge didn't stop her from achieving her goals and living a fulfilling life. Instead, it fueled her passion to create a more inclusive and joyful world for everyone.
Almost ten years ago, Stephanie joined the team at Cabot Square Dominion® in Newfoundland and Labrador. She started in the floral department and now greets customers with a smile at the salad bar. For her, the best part of her job is the people. She loves her teammates and the customers she meets every day, and her presence has a much larger impact than she ever imagined. "Some of our customers tell me that their child has a disability and seeing me at work gives them hope," she shares.
Stephanie faced many barriers finding employment because of her disability, until she walked into the Cabot Square store, which gave her a chance to shine. The team provides a supportive environment where she feels valued and secure. If she needs an extra break to rest or a hand getting supplies, her colleagues are always there to help. They have her back, no matter what, and this support allows her to focus on what she does best – spread positivity.
Stephanie's drive to make a difference extends beyond her work. She volunteers her time and works as an advocate for change. She is also a dedicated athlete, playing wheelchair basketball. She believes in taking every opportunity to improve the world around her.
At the heart of everything Stephanie does is a simple, powerful belief – inclusion is not just a word. "It's about bringing people joy, and that's my purpose," she explains. "If I can make one person's day a little bit brighter, that's enough for me.”
Stephanie's story is a beautiful reminder that everyone deserves to feel like they belong. Through her hard work, positive spirit and dedication, she shows us all what it truly means to create a place of joy and inclusion.
