A little Halloween magic goes a long way

Halloween is about more than costumes and candy. It's about the excitement of getting dressed up, decorating, sharing treats and making memories along the way. And sometimes, a little extra Halloween magic can turn an ordinary shopping trip into something special.

As Canadians get ready for spooky season, stores are helping bring the occasion beyond what's on the price tag.

From picking up goodies for trick-or-treaters to finding the finishing touches for a costume, there is plenty to think about before October 31 – all while balancing non-seasonal everyday tasks. Having everything for the occasion close to home and the convenience of picking it up during a regular shopping trip, can make preparing for Halloween that much easier.

Some locations offer everything from candy and costumes to festive décor, and others bring the seasonal spirit to life through beauty products and exciting Halloween finds. Together, this gives Canadians more ways to prepare whether they're hosting a gathering, heading out for the evening or simply enjoying a few festive touches at home.

But making Halloween special isn’t just about what's on the shelves, it’s also about helping more people feel part of the fun.

Through a partnership with Treat Accessibly (a Canadian grassroots movement that encourages families to make trick-or-treating accessible to everyone, including children with disabilities or mobility challenges), participating Your Independent Grocer and Maxi stores in Ontario and Quebec are offering customers free lawn signs to show communities where they can participate in accessible trick-or-treating(Open in a new tab).

Another way to spark that special feeling is by adding a little unexpected fun to the traditional shopping experience. At Real Canadian Superstore in Milton, Ontario, families had the chance to enjoy face painting and in-store trick-or-treating this year.

These thoughtful touches remind us there is more than what's in the basket.

While Halloween only comes once a year, the memories made along the way will last much longer and that’s something worth treating Canadians to.
