Hard Discount Retailer Brings Unbeatable Value to Powell River

Brampton, ON – December 4, 2025 – No Frills^®, Canada’s leading hard-discount grocery retailer, is excited to announce the opening of Powell River’s first No Frills^®, located at 4320 Joyce Ave. The new store brings No Frills’ commitment to unbeatable value, quality products, and strong community support directly to Powell River residents.

The opening of Jinky’s No Frills^® marks an important moment for the community, offering convenient access to affordable groceries and everyday essentials. The store has created 61 new local jobs, supporting the local economy and providing new opportunities for residents. Situated along Joyce Avenue, the location offers ample parking and a bus stop directly out front, ensuring easy access for customers.

“Opening this store feels like a full-circle moment,” says Jinky Lopez, Store Owner. “I grew up in BC, so being back and building something for this community really means a lot. We’ve put a lot of care into creating a store that offers great value, a great assortment, and a welcoming experience for everyone in Powell River.”

Jinky’s No Frills^® has a wide assortment of groceries to suit every household. This includes BC offerings such as IslandGold Eggs and Portofino Bakery items, along with produce, meats, and an extensive range of diverse food options for everyone. The store also carries a broad lineup of no name^® and President’s Choice^® products, deli meats, cut fruit, ready-to-heat meals, household essentials, providing a full shopping experience.

Jinky brings more than a decade of retail experience to her new role. Originally from Surrey, she began her career in 2014 as a Front-End Manager and Bookkeeper and later held roles including Produce Manager and Store Associate. She then successfully operated a No Frills^® store in Geraldton, Ontario for three years before returning to her home province of BC.

Jinky’s No Frills^® is also committed to reducing waste and supporting local initiatives. The store is partnering with Flashfood, Second Harvest, and Loop to divert surplus food, ensuring usable items support farms or community organizations. As part of the grand opening, a $1,500 donation will be made to both the Powell River Food Bank and the Tla’amin Nation, underscoring the store’s commitment to giving back.

The new No Frills^® in Powell River, located at 4320 Joyce Ave, is open Monday to Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
