How a family business became Quebec's #1 honey brand

Long before jars of Miel d'Émilie could be found on store shelves across Quebec, the story began with a handful of beehives, a piece of land in the Beauce region and one family's dream of producing a local honey that Quebecers could be proud of.

Founded in Saint-Sylvestre by Denis Doyon and his son Jean-François, the company has grown while staying true to the values that guided it from the very beginning: quality, authenticity and respect for the work of the bees. Over the years, Miel d'Émilie has distinguished itself through its blueberry, buckwheat and clover honeys, all carefully produced in Quebec.

Behind this success is also a partnership built on trust. When the Maxi team first discovered Miel d'Émilie, they saw more than just another local product — they saw a family-owned business committed to delivering consistent quality to consumers.

"It wasn't just another honey," says Sylvain Lemieux, Senior Director, Merchandising at Loblaw. "It was a Quebec-made product, created by people from here, offering a level of quality that customers could count on."

Today, Miel d'Émilie is Quebec's #1 honey brand. As Quebecers celebrates “Buy a Quebec Product Day on June 12”, its story serves as a reminder of the impact that choosing local products can have on families, businesses and communities.
