For George Karapostolakis, Director of Assortment and Space Planning, service has never been about recognition. It's about showing up, doing your part and understanding that what you contribute can make a difference to someone else.
It's a perspective that has shaped much of his life, both in and out of uniform.
George has spent more than two decades at Loblaw, building a career that has taken him through different parts of the business. Along the way, he's also pursued a path that some team members may be less familiar with – serving as a member of the Canadian Armed Forces.
It's a commitment he made in 2006, at a time when he was already balancing a young family and a growing career. What began as a personal desire to give back, has become an important part of who he is today.
While his two roles might seem worlds apart, George has found that the experiences, relationships and lessons from each have influenced the other. Supporting teams, helping them navigate priorities and ensuring they have what they need to succeed are at the heart of both roles.
