An impactful collaboration that underscores Shoppers Drug Mart’s ongoing commitment to sustainability is underway. Quo Beauty has teamed up with TerraCycle®, a leading innovator in recycling, to pioneer new initiatives aimed at reducing plastic waste and promoting eco-conscious practices.

Together, Quo Beauty and TerraCycle are leveraging their respective expertise to introduce innovative solutions that prioritize environmental responsibility without compromising on quality or performance. This partnership marks yet another milestone in SDM’s journey towards our commitment to make all control brand packaging recyclable or reusable by 2025.

Here's how the program works:   Customers can mail in their eligible empty Quo Beauty cosmetics components by signing up on the TerraCycle program page(Open in a new tab) and downloading a prepaid shipping label. Once collected, the cosmetic packaging is cleaned and separated by material type, and then recycled into raw formats that manufacturers use to make new products.

What items can be recycled?

The following Quo Beauty cosmetics components are eligible for recycling:

  • Plastic and glass tubes, pots, pumps, sprays, and jars

  • Lipstick, lip balm, lip gloss tubes, and wands

  • Mascara tubes and wands

  • Eyeliner pencils and components

  • Eyeshadow and bronzer components

  • Foundation packaging

  • Powder components

  • Concealer tubes and sticks

Nail polish bottles, nail polish remover bottles, makeup wipes and sponges, makeup brushes, and pressurized canisters (including aerosol cans) will not be accepted through this program.

As an added bonus, for every pound of empty Quo Beauty colour cosmetic components returned to TerraCycle, $1 will be donated to the Shopper’s Foundation for Women’s Health™,(Open in a new tab) up to $45,000.

This partnership with TerraCycle comes less than year after the launch of “More Planet Love” by Quo Beauty(Open in a new tab) which includes over 500 products with more sustainable packaging, using recycled plastics, mono-materials, and reduced plastic packaging. Additionally, the entire Quo Beauty lineup is vegan, cruelty-free, and PETA-certified, further contributing to a more sustainable planet.

We are so excited to launch this collaboration as part of the "More Planet Love" collection by Quo Beauty which launched in 2023(Open in a new tab) and includes products that were carefully designed to minimize plastic waste while embracing eco-friendly packaging solutions.
