Some 30 New Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean Products Arrive at Maxi Stores Across the Region

Montreal, Quebec, September 28, 2026 – Macarons, coffee, sauces, beverages, pâtés, pies and sausages: Maxi shelves across Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean are welcoming 32 new products from seven local suppliers, just a few months after their first meeting at the Zone Boréale Food Fair.

Last spring, Maxi participated in the Zone Boréale Food Fair, organized by the Table agroalimentaire, as a grocery retail partner. Maxi’s Quebec local product development team and store managers from across the region were there to meet local producers and processors, taste their products and explore opportunities to bring them to Maxi shelves.

A few months later, those meetings are paying off.

Makabon and its macarons, KWE and its non-alcoholic beverages, Lanvert and its sauces and marinades, as well as Walter coffee, are now available at Maxi. All four companies are also part of Loblaw’s Small Supplier Program, which aims to make it easier for small suppliers to get their products onto store shelves and support the growth of local small businesses through tailored terms and dedicated support.

New products from Simonne, including pâtés and pies, Viandomax and its General Tao sauce, and Viandes CDS and its fresh sausages round out this new selection of local products.

“The Zone Boréale Food Fair gives us an opportunity to meet local producers and make some great discoveries. This year, those meetings have translated into 32 new products in our stores. Our customers love finding products from their own region at the grocery store, so we’re very happy to be able to offer them even more — always at Maxi prices,” said Patrick Gaudreault, Manager of the Maxi store in Jonquière and local products lead for the region.

Great Connections That Turn Into Business Opportunities

For the Table agroalimentaire du Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean, the arrival of these products at Maxi demonstrates the importance of creating opportunities for producers and retailers to connect directly and turn conversations into action.

“The retail market can seem difficult for food businesses to access, but the personal connections with retailers make all the difference in this type of business relationship. Maxi was fully engaged in the Fair, not only by bringing together all of its store managers from across the region, but also by taking the time to genuinely connect with entrepreneurs. Together, they were able to discuss the products, their target customers and supply realities. We are extremely proud of the results of this collaboration, which once again demonstrate Maxi’s openness to local products,” said Nancy Ouellet, Executive Director of the Table agroalimentaire du SLSJ and Manager of Zone Boréale.

The 32 new products are now available at Maxi stores throughout Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean.
